Allied
Millwork of Pittsburgh has been a family owned and operated business since
its establishment in 1950. Located in Lawrenceville, at 3206 Penn Ave;
we are a part of Pittsburgh’s acclaimed 16:62 Design Zone.
Chuck Stein has been at the helm of Allied Millwork since 1991.
This
industrious millwork establishment is a small, 4 person custom sash and
door shop, very similar to what existed in
most major cities a century
ago. We fabricate architectural and historic doors and windows. Dedicated to
creating the highest quality product, we employ only the most knowledgeable
and skilled craftsman from an array of woodworking backgrounds. Remaining
a small
team of four enables us to have a great amount of flexibility and offer a beautifully
handcrafted final product at a competitive price.
We manufacture a very diverse range of products and work with a wide
variety of professionals including architects, contractors, and even
the homeowners
themselves. In a modern window industry, which mainly constructs its windows
using limited
lifespan materials such as aluminum and vinyl, Allied Millwork prides itself
on excellence and the superior craftsmanship exhibited through its wood windows
and doors.
As the recipient of several historic preservation awards, we
have been recognized
for our exceptional restoration skills, from colonial 1800’s farmhouses
in Ohio to government buildings in Maryland. And, of course, Allied Millwork
is highly acclaimed for its historical replication skills in and around the city
of Pittsburgh.
What we do
By
using time-honored woodworking materials and methods of construction (which
do NOT lend themselves to large scale manufacturing!), we are able to
provide virtually any style and size of window or traditional stile-and
rail door. Your needs can be accommodated on projects that range from
providing additional millwork
that matches existing, to larger projects in historic commercial buildings.
Creative designs that will afford us the opportunity to craft a unique
product for the inventive mind are welcomed!
Window designs such as very large double hung, inswing casement, hopper,
large awning style, and central pivot are all within our capabilities.
Door designs are equally varied, with our ability to offer screen/storm
doors, French style doors, man doors, Dutch doors, and even some garage
door designs! These can all be produced in any size or shape – with
any traditional glazing or modern glass – in true divided lites
or simulated divided – in any thickness from 1 1/8” to 2 1/4”
inches.
Also, either complete units or individual sashes and door slabs can be
provided. Again your choices in unit design are unlimited – any
jamb depth, sill profiles, and exterior trim requirements can be met.
